There’s something uncanny about watching clips roll out from the upcoming final season of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, filmed last year, while we’re all aware of what the news is at present. Like when a clip was released of Scott Disick saying he was ready to marry Kourtney “right here, right now”, despite the current situation being that they’ve both very much moved on. Is this dramatic irony?
It’s what I imagine being a ghost stuck in purgatory would feel like; knowing the answers but being unable to interact or interfere.
So watching Scott simp over Kourtney, and essentially gauge their chances of getting back together is infuriating when we just want to scream at the TV, “Scott, STOP. She’s happy with Travis Barker now, it’s not going to happen.”
In this latest clip from KUWTK, Scott and Kourtney have a chat about Scott’s relationship with Sofie Richie. The very dramatic, storied relationship with Sofia Richie – from the jealousy rumours to the break-ups, the make-ups, and the 'it's complicated’ phase.
Kourtney asks Scott what the deal is with Sofia, after hearing they were on a break. Scott admits that it would be hard for new partners to date either him or Kourtney, given the close relationship and “baggage” between them. He goes on to say that he might not be able to handle if the situation was reversed – if his new partner was as close to their ex as he is with Kourts.
"I don't think I could do it the other way around," Scott says.
"But I've always been clear that my priority has been my children, my life with them. I even put it out there that taking care of you is one of my priorities."
Kourtney’s expression barely changes, and she slowly takes a sip of white wine; visibly unmoved by Scott’s vulnerability.
In an off-screen interview, he calls Sofia a “trooper”, but admits that “anybody dating somebody is going to feel neglected when their significant other is spending more time with their ex than with them.”
He asks Kourtney whether they’ll grow old together travelling the world with their kids, and whether there’s a possibility they’d ever get back together.
In a classic Kourtney move, she slightly evades the question, saying “the kids like, love it. You know?”
"I do think that we have to be respectful of our relationship and make sacrifices for that if it means a lot to you,” she answers semi-vaguely, still expressionless.
Meanwhile, in the present day, reports are that Kourtney is happily dating Travis Barker. Good for her. Scott, on the other hand, is dating a teenager, so look, there’s that.
