WATCH: The First Trailer For Disney+'s 'Hamilton' Is Finally Here & We Bloody Love It
The first trailer for Disney+’s Hamilton dropped overnight, and from the looks of it, fans of the 2015 Broadway show won’t be disappointed when the film hits the streaming service on July 4 (July 3 in the US).
Directed by Thomas Kail, the film uses the best of three live performances of the musical performed by the original cast. “I’m so proud of how beautifully Tommy Kail has brought Hamilton to the screen,” star and creator Lin-Manuel Miranda said in a statement via Rolling Stone.
“He’s given everyone who watches this film the best seat in the house. I’m so grateful to Disney and Disney+ for reimagining and moving up our release to July 4 weekend of this year, in light of the world turning upside down. I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
Sadly, but also in a genius move, Disney+ is stopping its free trials right before the show's premiere. Have a watch of the trailer and tell us you don't think it'll be worth the $8.99/month, though. Those costumes! The choreography! That soundtrack!
