In today’s day and age, one of the best indicators of a friendship fallout is the good ol’ Instagram unfollow. I mean, is there anything more obvious – or brutal – than one mate going into another’s profile for the sole purpose of hitting unfollow? I think not.
So, when fans this week noticed Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian all unfollowed family friend Larsa Pippen, and that she’d unfollowed them back, naturally, we assumed the worst.
Were the rumours true – had Larsa hooked up with Khloe’s ex, Tristan Thompson? Did she spill some Kardashian family secrets? Is Kris Jenner saving the fallout for an upcoming ep of Keeping Up With The Kardashians? Your guess is as good as ours, though we'd put money behind the latter.
Entertainment Tonight has it on good authority that our theories are .. a little off. A source told them, "Larsa and the Kardashian sisters aren’t friends anymore and have grown apart. The Kardashians felt Larsa wasn’t bringing the best energy to their friendships and slowly drifted. No one has negative feelings toward one another, but they didn’t see a reason to continue to stay close." And no, Larsa and Tristan didn’t hook up, they said.
Larsa addressed the headlines last week, using the opportunity to plug her new business venture: “I woke up this morning blessed and see that everybody is focused on who I am following and who I am not following on social media."
"I am focused on my children, my new fitness brand Larsapippenfitness, and my relationship in real life. Praying that everybody finds peace in their own lives and focus on what brings them happiness."
The Kardashians have yet to comment on the unfollows. Understandably so, as they've been pretty busy. Kim, in particular, has had her hands full dealing with Kanye West’s mental health crisis, while still filming KUWTK.
Last week, Kanye cried at a US election campaign rally, claimed Kim was trying to cheat on him with rapper Meek Mill, revealed he’d been trying to divorce Kim, and insisted the movie Get Out was about him.
Kim had released a statement, saying: “As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. Those that understand mental illness or even compulsive behavior know that the family is powerless unless the member is a minor. People who are unaware or far removed from this experience can be judgmental and not understand that the individual themselves have to engage in the process of getting help no matter how hard family and friends try.”
So yeah, it's unlikely this Larsa thing is front of Kim & Co's minds these days. It was a welcome distraction for us though.
