And now for something completely different: James Charles is being sued for unfair dismissal.
You may have noticed that the disgraced YouTuber and makeup mogul has been on the DL lately, following allegations the 21-year-old exchanged sexts and sent nudes to a 16-year-old boy. The accusations have caused a flurry of backlash against the beauty YouTuber, causing YouTube to temporarily block him from making money off their platform. The make-up brand Morphe also cut ties with the YouTuber after mounting public pressure on the company to do so.
But wait, there's more! Today, James emerged from his social media sabbatical to defend himself against a different set of allegations: that he mistreated and unfairly fired his former producer Kelly Rocklein. Kelly is reportedly suing James for unfair dismissal.
Kelly apparently worked for James as a video editor and producer for about six months and has reportedly accused him of being lazy, using the 'N word' in her presence, and failing to pay overtime. While Kelly's posted a tweet in late April that cryptically references "the same people who screwed [her] over [ending] up in deep scandals" as "karmic debt", it now looks like she was likely referring to James Charles. (Kelly also used to work for influencer Erika Costell, so who knows.)
A visibly agitated James broke his Twitter fast to respond to the accusations in a seven-minute video, refuting Kelly's claims and declaring his only option is to "pursue this to the fullest extent of the law" adding that "one day, when it does get to a courtroom in the future, justice will be served".
