Pressing Questions With Dayglow

We accost 21-year old indie artist Dayglow with a medley of life's most pressing questions.

Dayglow describes himself as a "normal young man", but his interview responses are packed with so much wisdom that it's almost offensive. Born and raised in Texas, the 21-year-old artist, also known as Sloane Struble, is having a moment. Thanks to a shout on Spotify's Discover Weekly in 2018, the indie musician found a whole bunch of new, adoring fans (and they found him). He was even set to headline his first sold-out tour in early 2020, before COVID-19 stopped everything in its tracks. (Struble likes the thought of looking back on it as the "sold-out tour that never existed".) But don't stress, it's 2021 and he's back to give the people what they want.

Here's Dayglow on some of life's most pressing questions; both big and small.

What is the meaning of life?

To love other people, and to learn how to forgive first.

Something COVID taught you?

I love being around people and having fun. (I MISS LIVE MUSIC!)

Last movie you watched?

Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far On Foot. Really good movie about John Callahan!

Best advice you've received?

Nobody knows what they are doing at all.

Someone you really admire?

My mom [sic].

How do you feel about your hair?

I feel pretty good about it right now. Just shampooed. My fiancé gives me all of my haircuts!

Describe yourself in three words.

Normal young man.

One person or thing you think is underrated.

Social media detoxes and Christopher Cross.

Would you rather travel 100 years to the past or the future?

The past for sure.

Nature or nurture?

I'll go with nature. I feel like nature is nurturing so it's the best of both worlds, right?

What do you doubt most?

Anything I see on the internet now. I am a skeptical old man.

A daily ritual you couldn't live without?

I've started to drink a lot of water everyday, and I spend quite a bit of time in prayer or meditation.

How are you at 8am?

Definitely depends on the morning, but if I have something to look forward to, I'm all in.

Something you're passionate about?

I'm passionate about being present. I don't want to live in my own world in my head all the time – I want to know what the people around me are going through and how I can be there for them in the moment.

Tell us about your music in a sentence.

It makes more sense to me than anything else.
