Survivor Star Brooke Jowett Is Seeing The Silver Lining To Being Dumped On National Telly By Locky Gilbert
Survivor breeds them tough, we all know that!
The show puts its contestants through gruelling mental and physical challenges that we’re sure leaves them with a skillset us chumps can’t compare to.
And it seems this mental strength in particular is paying off for Brooke Jowett following her public split from Locky Gilbert.
As you might be aware, Locky has been cast as the new Bachelor following his stint on Survivor. Only one question of the casting begs to be asked: what about Brooke!?
The pair dated for a few months while filming Australian Survivor: All Stars but ended things when long-distance got too much once the show wrapped.
“As soon as we got there [to Fiji, where Survivor is shot], we were joined at the hip,” Brooke told TV Week.
But with Locky in Perth and Brooke in Melbourne, it made the reality of their relationship difficult.
However, when asked if it was a closed chapter in her life, Brooke teased that their flame may burn bright again in the future.
“It's still on the cards,” she said. “We haven't completely written it off, it's just very complicated with the distance. It's such an obstacle.”
With TEN blindsiding her with their The Bachelor announcement, she’s now been thrusted back into the tabloids over the breakup. But not to fear, she’s taking it like the champ she is.
“Getting semi-dumped on TV has actually had some benefits!” she told the Shameless podcast.
“I was blindsided,” she admitted.
“I had these plans with him and obviously they're not going ahead. So that's hard to deal with… I do feel screwed over, I do feel hurt, but Locky is just a small part of my story."
But hey, if her journey is anything like Sam Frost’s, perhaps this public dumping could turn into the catalyst for a career.
