Britney’s Brother-In-Law Thought Now Would Be The Perfect Time To Defend The Spears Family
Reactions to the latest explosive developments in Britney Spears’ conservatorship case are continuing to pour in, and look: there are several of them we could do without.
Last week, Britney Spears addressed the court pleading for LA Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny to end the conservatorship order the pop singer has been under since 2008. Celebrities, fans and friends of Britney Spears have been weighing in on the issue – including Justin Timberlake, who inserted himself into the situation and was promptly ripped to shreds.
The latest unwelcome comments have come from the husband of Jamie Lynn Spears, Jamie Watson. Yes you read that correctly – there’s Britney’s dad Jamie Spears, Brit’s sister Jamie Lynn Spears and Jamie Lynn’s husband, Jamie Watson. What is this Jamie cult?
During Britney’s address to in court last week, she spoke openly about her family’s actions, saying she would like to sue her entire family for what they’ve done to her.
The court-approved conservatorship, which has been in place since the pop icon experienced mental health problems in 2008, gives her father, Jamie Spears, the right to control her assets and make financial decisions on her behalf.
“I’m told I’m not allowed to expose the people who did this to me,” she said.
In response, Jamie Lynn’s husband Jamie Watson spoke to The Post on Friday defending the actions of the Spears family.
“I can assure you her family loves her and wants the best for her,” he said.
“I wouldn’t be around people who weren’t. Who wouldn’t want to be in support of Britney?”
Hmm. Sounds very suss.
Jamie Lynn has also been coping with a lot of criticism from Britney fans for her alleged complacency in the longstanding conservatorship.
Jamie Lynn has, in the past, issued sporadic statements of support for her famous sister, but many commenters don’t think she’s done enough. In fact, it was revealed last year that Jamie Lynn had been a trustee of Britney’s estate since 2018.
Since Britney addressed the court, supporters have been levelling criticism directly at Jamie Lynn and the rest of the family, prompting Jamie Lynn to disable comments on her Instagram.
Court documents revealed during the conservatorship hearings also confirmed that Jamie Lynn Spears had in fact profited from the situation, despite swearing in an Instagram comment that she had “never been paid a dime” by her sister.
As more disturbing elements of Britney Spears’s conservatorship come to light, her fans are truly coming for the rest of the Spears family.
