The superstar enigma that continues to be Shia LaBeouf has found himself back in trouble with the law, after an attempt to bum a ciggie off a stranger went horribly awry.

Things allegedly escalated quickly after a durry-craving LaBeouf was rebuffed by an individual on the streets of Georgia in the wee hours of Saturday morning, allegedly becoming "disorderly" and "using profanities and vulgar language in front of [a] woman and child".

The actor was then allegedly confronted by a cop for his "aggressive" behaviour and attempted to flee the scene before ultimately getting collared in the lobby of a nearby hotel.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction and public drunkenness and chucked in the slammer (he's expected to be freed on a $7K bond, though).

It marks the latest in a long line of brushes with the law for loveable career kook LaBeouf.

TBH we're hanging out to see his latest turn as John McEnroe in the new blockbuster biopic, it's about time he got some cred for his acting skills again (or at least shifted the spotlight away from his colourful arrest record).
