Selena Gomez Says Her Rihanna Merch Is Quite Distracting When She Has Guys Over

...

Selena Gomez is Rihanna’s self-proclaimed number one fan. And sometimes that gets her in a sticky situation.

Chatting with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio show, she revealed her ‘at-home’ playlist featuring her favourite artists including Rih’s ‘Love on the Brain’.

"All I'm going to say is from the get-go, I've been a Rihanna fan," Gomez began. "'SOS' to now. So, there isn't any real moment that it isn't gold, but 'Love on the Brain', and when she performed that live, I think that's one of the greatest songs of our time. I just think that the way she sings that song, it just takes me to another place."

"Is she your number one? Is she your favourite?" Lowe asked.

"Oh, I mean, yeah," Gomez quickly replied. "Yes. I have a whole book in there dedicated to Rihanna in my living room… And it's not a good idea to have around when you want guys there, but oh well."

Selena clarified she’s referring to Rihanna’s “picture book”, a visual autobiography coffee table book released last year.

Now this book retails at a minimum A$140 all the way to A$14,000 depending on how boujee you wanna go. We’ll tell you right now that the book at any end of this range is distracting – but lucky this lockdown means no one’s coming over any time soon.

Gomez also gushed over the work of several other female artist during the interview, including Billie Eilish’s ‘Everything I Ever Wanted’ and her pal Taylor Swift’s ‘Lover’.

"She already knows of what this industry can be and become," Gomez began about Billie. "And when I heard that song, I just sobbed because I've been doing this for so long and it's like, damn, that's so true. There's so many moments where I was just like, ‘Oh, it doesn't matter who you are.’ There's moments in my life that’s like 'is this it?'"

"She deserved every single thing that she got and has," Gomez said. "She's an amazing, amazing artist."

When chatting about Taylor’s ‘Lover’, Selena put on the record she reckons her friend is “one of the greatest songwriters”.

"There's nothing really to say other than this is another song that shows her ability to take it back to the old, to also combine it with her challenging to do new things with her music,” Selena said.

We love women championing other women. And by the sounds of it, Selena has a great at-home playlist going on.

We’ll definitely be giving it a listen.
