Hilary Duff Is Spilling Some Major Tea On Why The Disney+ 'Lizzie McGuire' Reboot Has Stalled

...

Hilary Duff is fully exposing Disney and we are firmly here for the drama.

Back in January it was announced that the much anticipated Lizzie McGuire reboot was halting production due to "differences with the creative direction" of the show. Lizzie stans went into meltdown while scrambling to read between the lines. At one point even Sophie Turner put her hand up to save us from this mess.

What did it all mean?!

Well, now we might have a bit more of clue as to what has been going down behind closed doors, thanks to some shady social media activity from Ms Duff. We obviously must stan.

Earlier this week Hollywood Reporter said the Love, Simon spin-off, Love, Victor, would be leaving Disney+ and heading to Hulu because the "adult themes," of, "alcohol use, marital issues (among the parents) and sexual exploration," were deemed too racy for the very PG streaming service.

In response the 32-year-old actress shared the news on her Instagram stories and added the caption, "Sounds familiar.."

Oop.

Her reaction suggests that Lizzie McGuire has potentially suffered the same fate. Or perhaps this is the best outcome for the show - moving to Hulu could mean that true fans will have their expectations satisfied on a more ~adult~ platform.

When we first learned of the shows hiatus, a Disney spokesperson dropped truth bombs about how important this series is to people. “Fans have a sentimental attachment to Lizzie McGuire and high expectations for a new series,” read a statement.

We need to ensure 'grown up' Lizzie gets the future she deserves and if that means heading to Hulu, then so be it.

The shows original showrunner who stepped away from the project, Terri Minsky, has spoken out and agrees the reboot could really thrive by heading to Hulu.

"I would love the show to exist, but ideally I would love it if it could be given that treatment of going to Hulu and doing the show that we were doing," she told Variety. "That’s the part where I am completely in the dark. It’s important to me that this show was important to people. I felt like I wanted to do a show that was worthy of that kind of devotion."

Give the people what they want. It's what Lizzie deserves.
