Oh Tom Holland! Is there anyone cheekier? Well, probably. But in any case, the 24-year-old British actor and his Spider-Man 3 co stars Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, sent fans into a frenzy yesterday by each pretending to announce the official title of the new Spider-Man film but instead, dropping out and out fakes. Those crazy pranksters!
"So excited to announce the new Spider-Man title," Tom, who will reprise his role as Peter Parker, wrote on his Instagram yesterday. "Can't wait for you lot to see what we have been up to," he continued. "Love from Atlanta." Tom's followers were then able to click through to the fake title: Spider-man: Phone Home. Haha.
Tom's co-star Jacob Batalon joined in on the fun, offering up the title: Spider-Man 3: Home Wrecker. And of course, Zendaya came through with her own fugazi in the form of Spider-Man 3: Home Slice. Eagle-eyed fans would've noticed that movies usually don't have three titles, suggesting the cast had taken to trolling fans as part of a marketing stunt.
This morning, official Spider-Man 3 Twitter account revealed its official title is, in fact, Spider-Man 3: No Way Home. The title was revealed via a short video that shows Tom emerging from Director Jon Watts' office to tell Jacob Batalon and Zendaya that he had been given a "fake name again".
The real Spider-Man 3: No Way Home, has been slated for a worldwide release on Dec 17, 2021. Alongside Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, the film also stars Jamie Foxx, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina and Tony Revolori.
Personally, I'd prefer Spider-Man: Work From Home. It's more real, you know? But each to their own.
