Michelle Williams Reveals She Was Suicidal During Her Time In Destiny's Child
We can all agree that Destiny's Child holds an ~iconic~ place in all of our hearts, but behind-the-scenes it wasn't all roses and sunshine.
In a recent interview on The Talk, Michelle Williams opened up about being suicidal during the height of Destiny's Child fame.
"I'm in one of the top-selling female groups of all time, suffering with depression," she said.
"When I disclosed it to our manager [Mathew Knowles] at the time, bless his heart, he was like, 'You all just signed a multi-million dollar deal. You're about to go on tour. What do you have to be depressed about?"
"So I was like, 'Oh, maybe I'm just tired," she said.
Sadly, Michelle's depression got so worse, "to the point where I was suicidal...and wanted out," of the group.
Michelle admitted during the interview that she had been suffering from depression since she was just 13 years old, but didn't realise until she was in her mid-to-late twenties.
"I think at the age of 25, had I had a name to what I was feeling at the time, I would have disclosed that I've been suffering from depression," she said.
Following her interview on The Talk, Michelle thanked the show for "being a safe place" to discuss her story. "Don't be afraid to reach out for help!" she tweeted.
We couldn't have said it better, Michelle!
