Gossip person Perez Hilton has apparently been kicked off TikTok and now he’s begging the platform’s most followed star, Charli D’Amelio, for help getting back online.
In a video shared to Twitter on Sunday, the celeb blogger dropped that TikTok had permanently deleted his account for violating the platform’s guidelines with ‘harassment’, ‘bullying’ and ‘nudity’. He says he’s been posting ‘entertainment coverage’ like he normally does.
“I am feeling numb, and I don’t wanna seem overly dramatic, but I feel like my world is crumbling,” he said. “This feels like a death to me.” ????!!!!!
“I have reached out to Charli D’Amelio and her family. I messaged them on Instagram begging them for help… with all the humility in the world, I grovel to them and pray they find kindness in their heart to please help me.”
Hilton says he had 500 videos saved in his drafts on the platform, and we can imagine it’s annoying to have stuff that you’ve worked on deleted without warning. Getting no response from TikTok about which posted videos were problematic would also be mildly frustrating. But, sorry Perez, it’s far from “a death”, and saying so feels in very poor taste, given the year we’ve just endured.
So what’s D’Amelio got to do with this? Well, apart from her being the most followed star on TikTok (she has her coveted 100 million followers), there may actually be a link between her fans and Hilton’s account getting deleted.
Back in March, Hilton commented, “Anyone else think it’s inappropriate for a 15-year-old to dance to this?” on one of her videos. Hilton reckons that after that, D'Amelio's fans may have reported his clips and comments again and again until his account was deleted. TikTok disputes this was the reason why his account was deleted.
“I feel really empty right now. Empty and numb,” Hilton finished. “Please Charli D'Amelio and your family, please help me. I know you don’t owe me that, but I beg of you. I beg of you, I grovel.”
“I love TikTok. Maybe I’m also being punished because I’ve been critical vocally of TikTok practices. I’m sorry. I will shut up. I will keep any criticism about TikTok private. Thank you for watching. Please share this video everywhere.”
Since joining TikTok in August 2019, Perez Hilton has amassed more than 1.6 million followers and earned an average 10 million views per week, according to The New York Times.
