Caitlyn Jenner And Laverne Cox's Budding Friendship Is Building An Inspiring Conversation

#TransIsBeautiful

Is Caitlyn Jenner holding open auditions for her squad anytime soon? Because sign us up!

Jenner took to Twitter on Wednesday (June 17) to thank “Orange Is the New Black” star Laverne Cox, both for her work in the trans community and for her public support of Jenner since hergorgeous debut in Vanity Fair earlier this month.

“You are fierce and fabulous!” Jenner tweeted to Cox. “Your support means the world. Thank you for all you do for the community.”

Cox responded to Jenner’s tweet, saying, “My pleasure. Sending you lots of love always.”

The “OITNB” star has been supportive of Jenner’s transition since her ground-breaking interviewwith Diane Sawyer. Cox, an advocate for trans people everywhere, recently wrote a Tumblr essayabout Jenner’s incredible impact on the community.

“It feels like a new day, indeed, when a trans person can present her authentic self to the world for the first time and be celebrated for it so universally,” Cox wrote, also noting that the privilege she and Jenner both share is not representative of the struggle most trans men and women endure. Still, more representation is never a bad thing, especially when that representation is diverse.

“For years and years, I’ve always said that it’s not about positive or negative representations of trans people, it’s about diverse representations of trans people,” Cox told MTV News at the “Orange Is the New Black” OrangeCon event in New York City last week (June 11). “The more stories of us that can get out there in the media, the more the public can get an idea of the rich tapestry of who we are.”

We love Jenner and Cox’s budding friendship — and now, we wait patiently for their first “fierce and fabulous” brunch selfie.
