Jesy Nelson from Little Mix has spoken out about the heartbreaking personal toll that she has suffered as a result of relentless trolling.

The 28-year-old singer is currently promoting her new BBC doco Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out which tackles the many hardships she has gone through since winning X Factor eight years ago.

"I wasn't just known as one of the singers in Little Mix, I was known as the fat ugly one," she said. 

Online trolls would send her horrific messages and leave comments on posts, all which lead to depression, eating disorders and at her lowest point, a suicide attempt in 21013.

"I felt that I physically couldn’t tolerate the pain any more."

Years on Jesy says she is finally in a much better place and wants to be a positive voice to ensure others don't have to endure the same difficulties she went through.

"I thought, there must be so many girls that wake up and still feel like that, that there's not a light at the end of the tunnel," Jesy said. "I wanted to make [the documentary] for people to know that there is."
