YOUR FAVORITE MTV SHOWS ARE ON PARAMOUNT+

‘Bridgerton’ Is Packed With Sneak-Attack Covers Of Modern Bops, From Billie Eilish To Sufjan Stevens

Your latest Netflix binge is jam-packed with regency spins on your favourite tunes.

I'd like to say that it was my discerning ear that picked up on Bridgerton's extremely modern soundtrack, featuring covers of everything from Ariana Grande to Shawn Mendes – but unfortunately I'm just one of those people who watch Netflix with the captions on. (Apparently it's a thing.)

So during the show's very first ball scene, I was surprised to be informed in bold typeface that the violinists in the background were doing a rendition Ariana Grande's 2019 break-up anthem "Thank U, Next". Here's a scene (where Daphne basically wanders about feeling herself) that showcases the instrumental version of the tune.

Other orchestral tributes in Bridgerton include "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5, "In My Blood" by Shawn Mendes and "bad guy" by Billie Eilish, all of which are covered by the LA-based Vitamin String Quartet.

The wildly-popular Netflix series also offers up a Kris Bowers cover of "Strange" by Celeste, Duomo's take on Taylor Swift's "Wildest Dreams", "Love Yourself (Short Reprise)" by Sufjan Stevens and "The End" by Jessica Vaughan.

Say what you want about Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes: she's never boring.
