In MTV's 'Inspired By’, YUNGBLUD Shares His Top 10 Musical Influences

Ever wonder who inspired YUNGBLUD’s unique genre-bending form? Tune into MTV to find out.

This month, YUNGBLUD will regale us with all the "weird and wonderful" music videos that galvanise and inspire him.

Yep, in MTV's new series Inspired By, we get you up close and personal with your favourite artists as they share the musical and artistic influences that shaped their music oeuvre and moved them to become who they are today.

So if you're wondering what made YUNGBLUD the alt-pop-punk powerhouse we know and love, you're going to want to tune in.

We were lucky enough to have a yarn with YUNGBLUD a few months ago so we've got a bit of a headstart on some of his musical heroes, which include David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Lily Allen, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Panic! At The Disco, Eminem and more.

But Inspired By will see YUNGBLUD whittle all that down to just 10 music videos.

For a sneak-peek, Melanie Martinez's pastel-hued video for "The Bakery" gets a well-earned nod.

"I love her visuals," YUNGBLUD says about the video. I think not many people are as good as her with visuals. I think she's a world builder."

And for a blast from the past, he reveals that one of his "favourite music videos of all time" is – wait for it –  "When September Ends", by Green Day, noting that the video's plot twist is "absolutely incredible."

The anthemic "Welcome to The Black Parade" by My Chemical Romance will also get a red-hot mention, with YUNGBLUD gushing that the video "literally shaped [his] childhood."

You can catch YUNGBLUD on MTV Hits all this month, starting from April 1 at 7:30 AEDT. MTV Hits is available on Foxtel (channel 801) and Fetch (237). (Have a squiz at MTV Hits' Foxtel schedule here.)
