In 2019, it was announced that a Gossip Girl reboot was officially in the works, promising to breathe new life into the cult classic teen drama from the mid-2000s.

The new show is in the hands of Joshua Safran, who was the executive producer of the later seasons of the original franchise. Safran will write and executive produce the reboot, working closely alongside original creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

Now we’ve gotten our first sneak peek into the new series, and it looks delightfully devious. Shot in a delicious slow motion, the trailer introduces you to the new characters – who are dolled up and glam in typical Gossip Girl style.
Kristen Bell, our mysterious, pot-stirring narrator returns with a friendly threat to our new members of the Manhattan Elite.
“You’ve gotten so comfortable – thinking you’re in control of your image, your actions, the narrative – that you forgot one thing: I can see you.”
She continues, “And before I’m through, I'll make sure you see you, too.”
Ominous. Of course, she signs off with her trademark “XOXO”.

In late April, the mysterious Gossip Girl (who, yes, will still be voiced by Kristen Bell) gave us a tidbit of hot gossip – that the show would be released sometime in July.
Tweeting from the official Gossip Girl Twitter account, they wrote, "Good afternoon, followers. I need no introduction, but these New York elite do. Pleased to present your newest obsession — coming to @hbomax this July. Clear your calendars accordingly."

The log line of the new iteration of Gossip Girl, according to Deadline, reads: "Eight years after the original website went dark, a new generation of New York private school teens are introduced to the social surveillance of Gossip Girl.”
