Cody Simpson Reckons His Relationship With Miley Cyrus Was “One Of Those Phases” And Where Can We Sign Up For One Of Those Phases?

Also, can Karl Stefanovic not come for Miley Cyrus like this please?

Cody Simpson – musician, Aussie heart-throb, potential Olympic swimmer (according to Grant Hackett) and famous ex of Miley Cyrus – has spoken about his break-up with Cyrus for the first time.

Sitting down for an interview with 60 Minutes (for some reason), Karl Stefanovic asked Simpson about the relationship and had the nerve, the gall, the audacity and the GUMPTION to ask him, “what were you thinking?”

This extremely angry Miley-loving writer has a few stern words for Karl, but I digress.

Speaking about his former relationship with Cyrus, Simpson said: “I’d known her for a long time at that point.” Saying she was influential in his life, “not like a mentor, but always a very hyper-creative person.”

“We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while,” he continued. “Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases, I guess. You go through [it] and you learn a lot from it.”

Honestly, where can I sign up to “go through a phase” and date Miley Cyrus?

Cyrus and Simpson called it quits in August 2020, after nearly a year of dating. Not long after the break-up, Cyrus took to Instagram Live to share what had happened.

“A year ago, almost to this exact date, the media tried to tell my story for me, and control my narrative, and I’m just not accepting that,” she said, referring to the highly publicised nature of her break-up with Liam Hemsworth.

“And so today, it came out that me and my boyfriend have broken up. It was confirmed by a 'reliable source' even though no one is reliable in a relationship except the individuals who are participating in it.”

“We’re individually just working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be, like everybody else at this age,” she said.

“We are just deciding who we wanna be with our lives, what we wanna do with our lives, and so, don't make it some drama story if next week we're out hanging out, getting pizza.”

She finished: “We've been friends for 10 years and we're going to continue to be friends, so just don't make it something that it is not.”
