Pressing Questions With Lucinda Price, AKA Frooomes

We investigate Frooomes’ real world via a series of our Pressing Questions.

Lucinda Price might not be a name you recognise, but her inscrutable influencer nom de plume, Frooomes, is quickly becoming hard to escape on Aussie internet. She's spun a hilarious sketch comedy narrative about a pseudo role as the CEO of her own company FROOMESWORLD, fuelled by a bizarre attraction to Shane Warne. As time goes on, the conceit only seems to get bigger and more absurd – her latest venture is a debut single featuring Flume and G Flip. She answers MTV Australia's Pressing Questions to tell us about how The Sims primed her for a Very Online life, an obscure Baz Lurhmann motivational music video keeps her going and why we should take kids more seriously than adults.

What is the meaning of life?

The meaning of life came to me, drunk in the backseat of an Uber. I hadn't asked, but the driver turned around and told me, "The meaning of life is that life is a test. It's over in the click of an eye". It made no sense and it's been stuck in my head ever since.

Something COVID taught you

That our parents were pretending to be shit at computers all along.

Last movie you watched

Not a movie, but a series: Dave. It's a semi-autobiographical comedy co-written by, and starring, Lil Dicky. It's about his quest to become the world's greatest entertainer. It's also about his irregular penis. I won't give too much away – but it's weirdly poignant and hilarious.

Best advice you've received?

Everything in this video. It's Baz Luhrmann's interpretation of an advice column written in 1997 by an American woman called Mary Schmich. I found it when I was 17. It's just beautifully phrased platitudes spoken over a great beat. I come back to it every few months and it makes me happy.

Someone you really admire?

Joyride. His music, his podcast, his sense of humour, his politics. He is a big inspo for me.

How do you feel about your hair?

Fabulous! I have a shaved head and I love it.

Describe yourself in three words

What the hell?

One person or thing you think is underrated?

Dodgeball.

Would you rather travel 100 years to the past or the future?

I like living in this moment right now. Growing up, I was obsessed with playing Sims and Neopets. All I wanted to do was go on the internet. Now I can do it all day every day with everyone else.

Nature or nurture?

If we're talking about learning, nurture. Nature, if we're talking about the best place to relieve yourself.

What do you doubt most?

Everything. Not in a sad way, I find it easier to live with uncertainty when I passively doubt everything. Does that make sense? I'm not sure.

Daily ritual you couldn't live without

Cappuccino.

How are you at 8am (essentially, are you a morning person?)

Pretty shit. I like to go to bed early and get up late. Maximum time OOO of my brain.

Something you're passionate about?

Being nice to children. When teachers and other people's parents were mean to me as a kid, I thought, you're an arsehole! I am never going to be mean like you, that's weird. So yeah, treating kids seriously, listening to them like they have important things to say. Adults talk way more shit. Kids are honest, let's celebrate that.

Tell us about your work in a sentence.

I do what I like and I like what I do!

Lucinda's answers have been slightly edited for clarity.
