Everything We Know About Zac Efron's Rumoured Aussie Girlfriend, Vanessa Valladares
Zac Efron has an Australian girlfriend and we do not mind at all. At All.
Well, well, well. Looks like Zac Efron really is dating Aussie Vanessa Valladares if these fresh new pics of them at a beach café in Lennox Head on Saturday and other snaps of them holding hands around Byron together are anything to go by.
A mate of theirs told People mag this week: “Zac met Ness earlier in the summer. They started hanging out in July and recently took a ski trip together. You can tell that they are having fun. She spends a lot of time at his house.” No word yet (if ever ‘cos, you know, privacy) on whether or not it’s the house Zac was apparently renting and looking to buy (this one).
So, what do we know about this new romance so far? Exactly who is Zac Efron dating? We break it down.
How did Zac and Vanessa meet?
People's source said the High School Musical star met his new 25-year-old girlfriend in June when Vanessa was working as a waitress at the Byron Bay General Store & Café. Another source told the Daily Mail that Vanessa has since quit that gig. If you remember, that's where Zac was first spotted in Byron Bay, when influencer Tarsha Whitmore posted this:
What do we know about their Zac Efron & Vanessa Valladares' relationship so far?
The 32-year-old actor and Vanessa were actually first spotted side-kissing and hugging at the Byron Bay General Store and Café a few months ago, but at the time were thought to just be friends. Zac was believed to still have been dating actress Halston Sage.
The Herald Sun first reported they were dating earlier this week, sharing pics of the pair leaving a Jetstar flight at Ballina airport after a ski trip to Thredbo together. In the snaps, the two can be seen wearing masks with Zac carrying Vanessa’s bags like a true gent. They’ve since been papped two other times strolling around Byron Bay together.
Zac reportedly had a return flight to Los Angeles scheduled for last month, but cancelled it when his tourist visa was extended from three to 12 months. A source told the Daily Mail: “He was only planning to fly home if he had to. He didn’t really want to go back to America.”
Makes sense, considering in an episode of Zac’s show Down to Earth, he said: “I gotta get out of Hollywood. I’m done. It’s not a place conducive to living a long, happy, mentally-sound life. I love California, I just think that dense population of people and city life is clearly not leading to many centenarians.”

Zac's starring in not one, but two docuseries on Netflix. Down to Earth with Zac Efron sees the actor travel round the world with ‘wellness guru’ Darin Olien in search of all the ways we can live more eco-friendly, while adventure series Killing Zac Efron shows him venturing "deep into the jungles of a remote, dangerous island to carve his own name in expedition history". Apparently Zefron contracted a bacterial infection while filming the show in Papua New Guinea and had to be flown to Australia for hospital treatment, so we expect it's pretty hectic.
Down to Earth has already hit Netflix in the US, but doesn’t yet have an airdate for Aus. Killing Zac Efron is yet to air on either.
So, what do we know about Vanessa Valladares?
Other than the fact she was working at a waitress, we don't know much else about her, we're afraid.
From a stalk of her Instagram, though, we can see that she models, loves the beach and is an avid traveller.
Who was Zac Efron last dating?

What’s next for Zac Efron and Vanessa's relationship?
Well, with Zac's visa reportedly now extended to a year, looks like they'll be in Byron together a bit longer.
But here's the tricky part: Zac was recently cast in a new film – a Disney+ remake of 1987 classic Three Men and a Baby – meaning he'll eventually have to return to Los Angeles. So, will his new girlfriend come with? Only time will tell.
