Here we have proof that a massive budget does not always make for a successful outcome. Zac Efron has just released an extremely high production value travel ad for Dubai, but in all honesty? The video of him and his jacked brother shirtlessly bungee jumping is a much more effective motivator to travel than whatever this is.
Despite being an honorary Aussie now, Zac Efron is doing his best to leverage his good looks and charm to entice audiences to travel to Dubai. The actor has joined forces with Jessica Alba to create a fake trailer for a fake action movie during a real pandemic. Feast your eyes on the final product below.
I mean, there’s a lot to unpack here. They’re selling a “bored married couple slash crime-fighting super spies” narrative intercut between Zac Efron shirtless exiting a pool (texting on his phone – did he have his phone in the pool?) and Jessica Alba fly-kicking a man who somehow got his motorcycle up to the top floor of a fancy restaurant. Do you reckon the building has roomy elevators? I just hope he didn't carry it up the stairs.
“Really, this is your plan?” Zac Efron asks Jessica Alba, despite us not knowing what the plan is or why it’s apparently a bad one. All we know is they then immediately parachute off Burj Al Arab.
Do I get to parachute off Burj Al Arab if I go to Dubai? Also, seeing as NSW’s COVID-19 numbers are keeping us locked down for the foreseeable future, can I even enter the country to at least attempt to parachute off Burj Al Arab? I’m going to assume no.
Either way, this ad has not resulted in me buying a one-way ticket to Dubai. I’m struggling to decide if I will even head to the sandwich shop next door today, and Zac Efron and Jessica Alba haven’t put an ad out for that.
