Life Is Stressful Enough Without Zac Efron and Jessica Alba’s Fake Movie Trailers

To be fair, I would see this Wes Anderson movie in a heartbeat.

Zac Efron, a true favourite of ours, confused the living hell out of us last month with a fake action movie trailer that was – despite the PANDEMIC – supposed to entice us to travel to Dubai.

They both looked extremely hot while they served us a confusing plot for a non-existent movie, which included fight scenes and skydiving, for some reason.

And now – they’re back. With more hotness, more camp, and more ill-timed tourism content.

The second installment of their fake movie trailers has been given the Wes Anderson romantic comedy treatment. It revolves around Jessica Alba and Zac Efron experiencing a suitcase mix-up, going on a country-wide search to find each other and falling in love along the way. We've all been there.

Check it out below.

Look: the first fake movie trailer was confusing and cringe-worthy, but there’s something about this one that’s embarrassingly hooked me. I’m a sucker for annoyingly kitschy films, and this is serving me high camp with an obvious nod to The Grand Budapest Hotel

Don’t get me wrong – I still wish they would stop. We can’t travel, and the premise of a fake movie trailer is still utterly confusing.

They have however managed a pretty convincing Wes Anderson spoof, boasting deadpan dialogue delivery, animated cutscenes and a saccharine colour scheme. But it will never beat the brilliant Saturday Night Live skit known as The Midnight Coterie of Sinister Intruders, starring Edward Norton as Owen Wilson, Noël Wells as Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate McKinnon as Tilda Swinton. It's a classic.

It seems that they will keep making fake movie trailers, cycling through different Hollywood genres as they go. Although they won’t be convincing me to travel to Dubai, they now have piqued my interest. What genre is next? Thriller? Sci-Fi?

Something else has come out of this collaboration. Apparently, Jessica Alba convinced Zac Efron to make a TikTok with her, and the result is very blessed. Honey x High School Musical crossover movie, anyone?
