Rumour Has It Jeffree Star Is Dating Trisha Paytas' Ex-Boyfriend, Sean van der Wilt
Trisha Paytas and Jeffree Star started off the year imploding the world of YouTube drama. The controversy, which you can catch up on here, started in January and involved claims of horrendous bullying by Jeffree Star, an unhinged hair stylist abusing Trisha Paytas on his Instagram Story, and Trisha calling out Shane Dawson and his fiancé for siding with Star. The story took many twists and turns across Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and Instagram before (seemingly) fizzling out at the end of January.
Enter: Perez Hilton, for some reason. At the end of last month, Jeffree posted these pictures on Twitter, hinting to the fact that he has a new lover. The picture of the new flame is pretty much anonymous, hiding his face and literally just focusing on his abs.
Yesterday morning, Perez Hilton retweeted the images, saying that his "sources" have told him that the lover in question is Trisha Paytas' ex, Sean van der Wilt. "Match made in hell!" he exclaimed.
Jeffree had a public break-up with ex boyfriend Nathan Schwandt in January 2020, and more recently found himself embroiled in a bizarre rumour involving Kanye West. Whether this new boyfriend actually is Sean van der Wilt is unknown at the moment; at this point, Perez's claims remain unsubstantiated.
Sean van der Wilt is the ex of Trisha Paytas, and the pair experienced an extremely controversial and public split in 2016. (Paytas released several videos in December 2016, in which she accused van der Wilt of cheating on her with another man.) Paytas received an understandably huge amount of backlash for 'outing' her ex, which is obviously a very dangerous thing to do. Paytas' huge platform and gravitation toward controversy compound how awful her videos outing van der Wilt were, and many accused her of exploiting him and the relationship split for clicks.
At the start of 2020, the two released a couple of confusing videos: Sean's was called 'we never broke up... Q & A' while Trisha's was titled 'tricking my ex boyfriend into falling in love with me again'.
If Perez Hilton's rumours about Jeffree Star dating Trisha's former boyfriend are true, you can bet on a deluge of YouTuber drama videos flooding in from every direction. Trisha has yet to respond to the rumours. We'll be bracing ourselves for if and when she does.
